In this book, the work described the extension of photo-induced H-atom detachment measurements on phenol towards identifying the active participation of the 1??* state in the photochemistry of the amino acid tyrosine. To achieve this feat, a step-wise approach was taken in which the complexity of the system was gradually increased towards the target molecule. This body of work thus confirmed that in the case of the amino acid tyrosine, photoexcitation of the chromophore leads, in part, to subsequent dynamics at the chromophore site (O-H). This prompts the question of whether or not this observation can be extended to other amino acids (e.g. tryptophan) and di/tri peptides. The work described in this book therefore is a stepping stone towards extending these measurements from the micro (chromophore) towards the macro (polypeptides) and it remains to be seen whether or not trends in the electronic structure govern the photochemistry of much larger, realistic systems.

This work was made to study the photochemistry of riboflavin and the kinetics of riboflavin degradation after exposure to UV-Vis light phosphate buffer solution at different pH interval (2-10) with the same concentration (5?10-5M ) was studied by the of UV-Vis spectrophotoscopy analyses, it showed that degradation increase as pH increase from pH (2-7)where the lumichrome a photoderivative forms in the acidic medium. a maximum degradation occurs at neutral pH (7). Then it began to decrease from pH (7-10). Where the lumiflavine (a photoderivative occurs at basic media) formed. We also calculated the quantum yield of this decomposition and found that an increasing occur from pH (2-7) (1.902?10-4-6.020?10-4) then a decrease occur from pH (7-10) (6.020?10-4- 1.266?10-4) as well as the reactivity ratio.

Aceclofenac is an effective analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug prescribed widely in recent years for various types of pain and inflammation. Aceclofenac is partially insoluble in water and aqueous fluid and as such it exhibits poor variable oral bioavailability. Aceclofenac needs enhancement of solubility and dissolution rate to improve its oral bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy. Among the various approaches to enhance the solubility and dissolution rate of poorly soluble drugs complexation with cyclodextrin is an effective and industrially accepted technique. In the present investigation, Complexation of aceclofenac with ?-CD was carried out by using various techniques like physical mixture, kneading method, co-precipitate method & solvent evaporation method. From the various characterization studies like drug content, production yield & in vitro dissolution study. Data were further treated with statical analysis using ANNOVA model and from the result of statical analysis batch abc-6 by kneading method was selected as optimised batch. Optimised batch was also studied for FTIR and DSC studies.

Cyclorins, hydrophilic carriers, are cyclic polysaccharides which have property of forming inclusion complex with various guest molecules with suitable polarity and dimensions. They have been used extensively for solubility enhancement of hydrophobic drug/water insoluble drugs. Diacerein is anthraquinone compound designed to treatment of osteoarthritis. The purpose of this research was to enhance the solubility and therefore dissolution of Diacerein by complexation with ?-cyclodextrin (?CD) and hydroxyl propyl ?-cyclodextrin (HP ?CD).This study represents the formulation of inclusion complex with ?CD and HP ?CD by kneading method and their characterization and evaluation of improvement in dissolution profile. Inclusion complex compared to pure drug and physical mixtures, remarkable enhancement in invitro drug release profile in PH 6.8 phosphate buffer was obtained in both inclusion complexes of ?CD and HP ?CD, especially with HP ?CD. Complexation of Diacerein with hydrophilic carriers like ?CD and HP ?CD offers a major enhancement in drug solubility.
