Although a number of methodologies exist for Business Process Re-design (BPR), Supply Chain Re-design (SCR) and e-business process design, there is a lack of an integrated BPR methodological framework to support Supply Chain Integration (SCI). This book proposes a detailed framework based on integrating a number of different methodological strands from the literature. A literature review was conducted in three different domains - business process re-design, supply chain re-design and e-business process design-. The literature review revealed potential for integrating elements of a number of different methods and techniques found in different methodological strands into a framework for conducting BPR to support SCI. Accordingly a number of relevant methodologies were identified, decomposed and compared at their stage and technique/method level to identify a combination for development of the integrated framework. The proposed BPR methodology can be applied in any company or sector; methods and techniques incorporated are not specific to any sector. The proposed BPR methodology proposed constitutes an aid for supply chain practitioners in the construction of SCI.

In a global marketplace supply chain integration is recognised to be one of today’s competitive advantages. This exploratory research utilised a stepwise methodology to investigate pathways to supply chain integration. First, value streams where audited applying Quick Scan Methodology. Next, internal and external barriers to supply chain integration were investigated. Finally, longitudinal case studies were used to investigate ways of supply chain integration. In total, some 240 person days were spent in the field to investigate supply chain integration in practise. The research revealed that supply chain integration practise rarely resembles the theoretical ideal. Further, every case company was found to face significant managerial, socio-cultural barriers to supply chain integration. Good top management support and favourable external dependencies offer the best setting for enhancing supply chain integration in practise. If those are not present companies seem to choose the path of least resistance. Finally, this study yielded some early insights that the speed of supply chain integration development in practise follows a learning curve trajectory.

Supply Chain Management has become essential for manufacturing firms worldwide. Supply Chain Integration is a major topic in this field mainly because it is essential to optimize customer satisfaction. Only by integrating all aspects of the supply chain can customer satisfaction be optimized. Olhager and Selldin (2004) explained the current Supply Chain Integration status among Swedish manufacturing firms. According to Olhager and Selldin companies were starting to appreciate the importance of the supply chains in which they operate. However, most firms had a long way to go to take full advantage of the promises of supply chain integration. They found that in Sweden in 2004 awareness of planning and control techniques and communication means was high. And they thought work on increasing and improving supply chain integration and collaboration would be strengthened in the near future. Based on previous research it is useful to explain the current supply chain integration status to notice what happened in the past years. Have trends in this field proceeded as expected?

Therefore they need two capabilities: the capability to understand their markets in terms of market drivers and market trends; and secondly the capability of a company and its supply chain to respond in a timely yet efficient manner. Managing such supply chains will be difficult without some degree of process integration and collaboration between supply chain partners. A first step is to know their own and that of their suppliers’ performance capability. Michael Seitz’s work was about constructing a performance measurement tool to identify the operational performance between adjacent members of a supply chain. The SCOR model was used as the basis of the Performance Measurement System. This was extended to include a Collaborative Index, an additional measurement which could assess the levels of supply chain integration and collaboration, and a Stability Index, which was developed to measure the robustness of the evaluated supply chain. This book is interesting for students and decision makers working in the area of supply chain who want to gain a deeper knowledge about measuring supply chain performance.

Supply chain management aims to add value across the supply chain and customer service is a major strategic issue. Supply chains are complex and subject to variables of forecast, supply, process, and transportation which can lead to problems such as the bull whip effect, product lateness, damaged goods and stock outs. A key issue is how to monitor and control performance across the chain and meet customer’s needs. In this work an order fulfillment model using Design for six sigma, which focuses on customer requirements from design onset and fuzzy logic, which accounts for the variable supply chain environment, is presented. By applying the model in a case study, a representation of detailed activities of order fulfillment processes is demonstrated providing key internal and external performance indicators. A theoretical transfer function for predicting the performance of the perfect order incorporating fuzzy set theory provides a way of monitoring supply chain performance. This is an effective way to monitor and control order fulfillment variables, optimise the order fulfillment process, meet customer requirements and make incremental step towards supply chain integration.

Interest in supply chain disruptions increased after 2001, due to the devastating effects of the recent disruptive event and due to the increasing vulnerability of the supply chains. Although research interest on this topic has been increasing, no such research has been done in Albania. The actual research will attempt to give an answer to the question “Why the severity of the same supply chain disruption is different for companies in the same industry?”. The methodology used was comparative case studies, respectively Dell, Nokia, Daimler, Meggle Albania and Fabjus case study. The analysis and comparison of the case studies concluded that the best strategy for handling supply chain disruptions is a combination of resilience and implementation of robust strategies. Managers should be aware that the severity of a disruption depends on the company background and organizational culture. These factors can increase the company resilience. Also, they determine the success in the execution of the strategies for managing supply chain disruptions.

The application of game theory to supply chain is a novel approach and it has been captured many researchers' attention, due to the theory of game provides essential tools for analysing supply chain members' behaviours in competitive and cooperative environment. The interaction among supply chain members will have significant impact on their strategies and profits. Therefore, in this work, we conducted several comprehensive studies of supply chain related problems, based on mathematical game theory concepts, by considering real life situations such as competition and cooperation, role of leadership position and availability of prior information among supply chain members. We have also considered the situation where the consumer is a strategic player in a supply chain, and incorporated his/her preference and purchasing behaviour to reflect demand. The analysis of this study should provide better understanding of complex working of a real supply chain and its members' behaviour to the researchers and practitioners in the discipline, and should also assist practitioners for decision making in order to improve supply chain members' performance.

There are many reasons for the popularity of the supply chain or the supply chain management concept. Through globalisation, entities are forced to look for more effective ways to coordinate the flow of goods and material between facilities, into and out of the business. Customers are consistently demanding products that are delivered faster, exactly on time, and with no damage. Supply chain management is the systemic, strategic coordination of the traditional business functions and the tactics across these business functions within a particular entity and across businesses within the supply chain, for the purpose of improving the long-term performance of the individual entities and the supply chain as a whole. One key objective of supply chain management is to lower the costs required to provide the necessary level of customer service, in order to gain a competitive advantage within a market segment. To be fully effective in today''s competitive environment, entities must expand their integrated behaviour to incorporate customers and suppliers. Low cost and differentiated service help build a competitive advantage for the supply chain.
